Install the switch — 3 Switch + 1 Dimmer + 1 Plug

Install the switch

7 steps

Before you start

  • Switch off the main power at the MCB and check it is off with a voltage tester. Keep it off until the glass is fitted.
  • Have a qualified electrician install it. Use insulated tools and gloves, keep the work area dry and label the wires.
  • You need an 8 module metal box, 233mm x 78mm (9"x3"). Use a flat-headed screwdriver and the console screws provided.
  • Light switches (L): up to 6A resistive each. One light or fan per switch, never in series or parallel. LED/CFL: max 40W per switch.
  • LED strips: 240V mains strips only, never 12V or 24V. High load (H): up to 16A resistive. Dimmer (D): up to 100W of dimmable lights.
  • Socket: up to 6A, with an earth wire. Two-way (T1, T2): 6A each.
  1. Remove the front glass

    Remove the front glass

Use a flat-headed screwdriver to gently lift the front glass panel off the module.

Do not touch the circuit board.

  2. Connect neutral and power

    Connect neutral and power

Follow the wiring drawing. Connect neutral to N and earth to E. Connect phase from UPS or EB to P1, and from EB to P3.

No separate EB supply? Loop P1 to P3. P2 is only for the socket.

  3. Connect your lights and appliances

    Connect your lights and appliances

Connect each load wire to its terminal: L1 = your light, D = dimmable light, H = high load.

    P1 powers D and L1. P3 powers H.

  4. Connect the socket

    Connect the socket

Connect the socket supply to P2. The earth wire goes to E.

You can loop P2 from P1, or give it its own EB or UPS phase. The socket takes up to 6A.

  5. Connect the two-way switch

    Connect the two-way switch

Connect P4 to the phase from your distribution board. Connect T1 and T2 to T1 and T2 of the other two-way switch.

The other switch can be an iotics switch or a regular two-way switch. On a regular switch, connect its phase terminal to the light.

  6. Fix the module to the box

Fix the module to the box

Use the console screws from the box to fix the module to the 8 module metal box.

Before you fix it, check every copper wire end is tightly twisted in its terminal. Tape any exposed joints.

  7. Fit the glass and switch on

Fit the glass and switch on

Line up the glass and press it until all four corners lock. Then switch the main power back on.

If touch does not respond after you fit the glass, switch the main power off and on again. Fitting the glass changes the touch capacitance.
